PART II You’ve noticed that some things easily dissolve in water or other solvents. When you make a cup of coffee, certain materials in the coffee grounds dissolve but other materials don’t. How much of a solute will dissolve in a certain amount of solvent at a certain temperature is known as solubility. Materials with a high solubility are said to be soluble, material with a low solubility are said to be insoluble.
