schedule, and places people decide to spend their time are greatly impacted through social
support.
Poor social support has been linked to depression and loneliness has been shown to increase
the risk of depression, suicide, alcohol use, cardiovascular disease, and altered brain function.
Teacher emotional support comprises teachers' demonstration of genuine concern for and
care about their students, respect for their students, desire to understand students' feelings and
points of views, and dependability (
Patrick, Anderman, & Ryan, 2004

Pianta & Hamre, 2009
).

Social support has made a huge difference in my educational matriculation. The most
important aspect of social support was having educators there that pushed me and didn’t allow
me to give up. Social support is important for students because it creates and fosters an
environment for student comfortability and growth.
Social support may come from a number of
sources including family, friends, teachers, and organized programs.
I have always had strong personal connections to my teachers. I enjoyed talking with them
frequently. I usually received more constructive guidance and praise rather than just criticism.
This in turn helped me trust them more, show more engagement in learning, behave better in
class and achieve at higher levels academically. “Positive teacher-student relationships draw
