Students are required to attend one discussion section per week. The discussions are designed to assist in your understanding of the material presented in lecture and the text. At the discussion sections, the teaching assistant may review the material covered for the week or answer any questions pertaining to the lectures. Quizzes will also be given in the discussion section. All discussion sections are mandatory and there will be no make-up quizzes. There will be a total of seven quizzes and you may drop the lowest score. THERE WILL BE NO SECTIONS THE FIRST WEEK OF CLASS. Discussion section grading: Quizzes 30 points Paper 30 points Discussion Section Calendar: Week Number Beginning Topic/Activity 1 Apr 1 No sections 2 Apr 8 Discussion, description of project 3 Apr 15 Discussion 4 Apr 22 Discussion 5 Apr 29 Discussion 6 May 6 Discussion 7 May 13 Discussion 8 May 20 Papers are due 9 May 27 No sections 10 Jun 3 Discussion June 11 (Tuesday), 8-10 am Final exam There will be review sessions for the midterms and final. Time and location will be announced. Attendance is optional. Students in all sections may attend.
