Over time we can evaluate the new attempts of increasing effective communication by seeing an improvement in HCAHPS scores or lack thereof. We would need to evaluate scores at least quarterly and if scores are not showing results modify the plan based on leader rounding patient recommendations from patients directly. Therefore, it will be necessary to include recommendations for increased communication as a patient question during leadership rounding. By including the patient’s perspectives this will allow modifications as the program progresses to ensure its success.
