impact on all business disciplines. The way in which the work force is scheduled will affect HR as it has to hire and train (and unfortunately layoff) workers. The production schedule will determine how successful the customer’s needs are met on a timely basis. Clearly the production plan will impact financial activities, from ensuring the funds are available to pay the labor and the suppliers, to projecting the company’s after tax cash flow and meeting the company’s financial goals and objectives. * Related Course Learning Objectives for the WeekThe course learning objectives that this week’s material and activities are related to are the following: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. * Software ApplicationsThis week I have demonstrated the use of the OM Explorer software for Sales and Operations Planning. This can be found in my Software Applications folder within the Course Documents. If you are going to use software for the Sales and Operations Planning work, do not use the POM software as it is limited to linear programming applications. * Related LinksRemember to review my comments in the Weekly Perspectives folder that can be found in the Course Documents area. I will use these to provide additional perspective on the material that we will be covering this week. These can be found in two formats. The first is a multimedia Web broadcast in which I provide a visual-audio presentation of the material for the week. The second format in which these perspectives are provided are Word documents. These can be found in the Weekly perspectives folder. For your ready reference, I am also providing the links to these multimedia presentations here: Weekly Perspective: Supply Chain Design (Chapter 12) and Supply Chain Integration (Chapter 14) Weekly Perspective: Operations Planning and Scheduling – Sales and Operations Planning (Chapter 10)I have provided several video presentations treating one of our topics (Operations Planning or Aggregate Planning as you might see it called) for this week. These presentations focus on traditional inventory management models. You can find these in the Course Resources. There are two sets of videos. One is labeled Updated Problem Solving videos. These are the most recent videos and are closed captioned with the presentation broken into several small videos each discussing a specific inventory concept. The second set of videos is labelled Multimedia Problemsolving videos. These are my original set of videos. This set of videos will most often have the PowerPoint slides and other material used in the presentation that can be found by opening this folder.
