Global Information System (GIS) -information system that works across national borders, facilitates, communication between headquarters and subsidiaries in other countries, and incorporates all the technologies and applications found in a typical information system, gather, store, manipulate, and transmit data across cultural and geographic boundaries. Global Structure - (also known as franchiser) uses highly centralized information systems. Subsidiaries have little autonomy and rely on headquarters for all process and control decisions as well as system design and implementation. Grid Computing- involves combining the processing powers of various computers. With this configuration , users Group Support Systems (GSSs) -assist decision makers working in groups. Systems use computers and communication technologies to formulate, process, and implement a decision-making task and can be considered a kind of intervention technology that helps overcome the limitations of group interactions. Groupware -assists groups in communicating, collaborating, and coordinating their activities. Collection of application that supports decision makers by providing access to a shared environment and information. Horizontal Market- concentrates on a specific function or business process and automates this function or process for different industries. Hyper-social Organizations -companies that leverage social media to better connect with customers and increase sales through the social process. Implementation Phase -organization devises a plan for carrying out the alternative selected in the choice phase and obtains the resources to implement the plan. Implementation Phase- solution is transferred from paper to action, and the team configures the system and procures components of it. Inference Engine -similar to the model base component of a decision support system. By using different techniques, such as forward and backward chaining, it manipulates a series of rules. Infomediary Model- e-commerce sites collect information on consumers and businesses and then sell this information to other companies for marketing purposes. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)- also called hardware as a service (HaaS), type of cloud computing whereby computer infrastructure (such as storage, hardware, servers, and networking components) are delivered as a Service. Insourcing- when an organization’s team develops the system internally. Intelligence Phase -decision maker examines the organization’s environment for conditions that need decisions. Data is collected from a variety of sources (internal & external) and processed. From this information, the decision maker can discover ways to approach the problem. Intelligent Agents -software capable of reasoning and following rule-based processes; they are becoming more popular, especially in e-commerce.
