Direct compensation A direct compensation allows people to try hard to fix the defects they have in real life. For example, if he or she is a weak person or a coward in reality, they may try hard to build another personality in the virtual world. 2. Displacement For those who are not satisfied or happy with current situation in their lives but feel unable to makes changes, they transfer their dissatisfaction to another object less harmful and danger. 3. Fantasy Fantasies allow people to find satisfaction in an imagined and unreal world. 4. Identification Players can enjoy being an imaginary winner in the virtual world and share the victory of others.
