issue than what they have listed, then it directs you to w form to fill out which have boxes for
you to check, some of the boxes are practicing without a license, sexual conduct, insurance
fraud, quality of care and a few others. Once you have filled out this form along with the consent
form to have your information released, you can either mail it in or email it to the Consumer
Service Unit. When the board receives a complaint, they do an investigation to find out exact
details. Once those details have been found out, the person or persons are seen before the board
and a ruling is made. Some of the rulings that they board could make are probation, revocation of
license, suspension, restricted from practice, fines or someone does have the ability to surrender
their license. The amount of the fines varies depending on the act that the counselor was found
guilty. They range in price from $500 to $10,000 and along with the fines come the probation,
revocation of license, suspension or any other discipline they see fit.
The State board of Florida offers many beneficial activities and forums for a person who is either
becoming a licensed counselor or a current one. The State Board is here to guide us along and
make sure they counselors are following the laws, ethics and rules put in place. They offer
continuing education courses and up to date information of what is going on in the counseling
community and throughout the state.
