Not only cameras, but also most computers found in the workplace have someone watching and keeping track of what their employees are doing on them. Even punching in to a computer tracks when you got to work and when you leave, and if you do it on time. This goes in to keeping their employees honest and tries to deter them from breaking the rules. Question : Does the surveillance your employer use to watch you control your actions in the workplace? Chapter Eleven Chapter eleven was about surveillance of the poor. At first, many groups tried to guide the poor through discipline to get them out of poverty. Through surveillance they tried to teach them how to act and what they should be doing instead of what they were doing. These attempts usually failed. Along with this going on, the US welfare did its own surveillance of its users. It tracked and still does how much was given, why it was given and sometimes even checked in on those using it to see if they were using it for the ‘right’ reasons. Computers made this easier to record so people take less advantage of the system. Question : Do you think surveillance of welfare receivers should be used more, or less? Chapter Twelve Chapter twelve is on surveillance of those stuck in the criminal justice system. This includes people in jail, prison, and on probation or parole. Many of these people are nonwhite and many of them end up in poor communities or back into the system.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
