Education on low residue diet. Cipro 500 mg orally every 12 hours for acute diverticulitis management for 7 days. Flagyl 500 mg orally every 8 hours for acute diverticulitis management for 7 days. Morphine 1-2mg IV every 4-6 hours as needed for mild-moderate pain 4-7. Continue current medication regimen GI consult for possible endoscopy/colonoscopy. Education on newly prescribed medications and side effects. Education on diverticulitis. Order Hepatitis panel. Social work consult for drug abuse treatment. Evaluating medical therapies, such as anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, or probiotics, and dietary interventions that may decrease symptoms and complications and/or reduce recurrence rates after an episode of acute diverticulitis.
