CONCLUSION: The conclusion must be written in paragraph form . All questions asked in the conclusion section of the lab should be answered. A critical evaluation of the percent error must be presented. The last part of the conclusion section should always be a concluding statement that addresses if all of the prescribed objectives were met . **THE LAB REPORT SHOULD BE WRITTEN IN THIRD PERSON .** It is advised that all data tables and graphs be done in Excel. If you follow these guidelines, and any specific guidelines given for a particular lab, each time you should not lose any points on format! Happy Report Writing

PROPER FORMAL LABORATORY FORMAT EXEMPLAR: JANE DOW Joe Shmoe Jim Dandy Sept. 15, 2008 Period 2 PROPER MEASUREMENT AND ACCURACY LAB OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this lab is to chose the correct method of measurement and apply the proper analysis techniques to collected data. MATERIALS: 100 ml Graduated cylinder 250 ml Beaker Copper shot Unknown metal cube Water Balance Mass boats PROCEDURE: 1. Tare the balance to the mass of the mass boat. 2. Take a sample of copper shot and place it into a mass boat. 3. Mass the copper. Record the mass of the copper shot sample. 4. Fill the 250 ml beaker with water. 5. Using the beaker, fill the graduated cylinder to the 50 ml mark with water. 6. Place the copper shot into the graduated cylinder. Record how many ml of water was displaced by the copper shot. 7. Repeat the procedure twice with different amounts of the copper shot. Record your values. 8. Repeat the procedure with the unknown metal. DATA: OBSERVATIONS: Some of the water remained in the graduated cylinder between trials. The mass of the smallest sample of copper shot was hard to balance.
