Listen to all concerns and answer all questions the patient may ask. If the patient is in pain due to the lesion, help them into a more comfortable position and assess the pain as much as you can. Provide high calorie meals due to the treatment side effects. 8 Patient Teaching Ask the patient to inspect their skin for more lesions if any new ones appear. Offer emotional support for a positive outlook to the situation. Aside from pain management, the patient’s nutrition is also important. Cancer treatments can deplete of all nutrients due to loss of appetite. Teach the patient to intake, higher protein meals. Explain to the patient that fatigue will happen so take rest periods often.
