EDUC 302 Summary The first thing I took into consideration before selecting a book was the grade level and age of the students. Since I have a passion for smaller children, I chose three second grade students to participate. Just to be clear, I am not a teacher but a prespective teacher completing my observation and teaching hours. It was crucial the selection of a book that was vivid and colorful to keep students engaged through the reading. “First Day Jitters” was a great book to select because it is extremely illustrated and also tells how many students are feeling now since it has only been two weeks of the first day of school. Before beginning the book reading, I asked the scholars to make predictions on the book by its book cover. We discussed as a grup the predictons and moved to reading the book. Before reading the whole page, I asked each student to read the first sentence and guess what was going to happen next. I also asked what did they think would happen next by just interpreting the picture. After reading part of the book, I decided to let each student have a ten minute private reading to
