gave the founding fathers a great base to start on and they could take certain aspects, expand, and change from there.RE: welcome.Judy Worthy 7/14/2015 7:25:13 PMI believe because the styles were so unique, yet so breathtaking and historical, that being influencial was indicative to whatthe Romans and Greeks felt about their accomplishments. It would be very difficult for anybody to imitate and bring valueand meaning to some of the greatest works of all.RE: welcome.Talha Shafi 7/15/2015 11:47:19 AMNeoclassical architecture style encompasses the styles of Federal and Greek Revival architecture which were a majorinfluence during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It was during this period that many of the foundational buildings ofthe United States government were constructed. Perhaps the single greatest example of these architectural styles isthe United States Capitol Building. Thomas Jefferson wanted Congress housed in a replica of an ancient Roman temple.Since the capitol in Richmond, Virginia, was an example of Roman “cubic” architecture, he thought the federal Capitolshould be modeled after a “spherical” temple. The U.S. Capitol's designs, derived from ancient Greece and Rome, evoke theideals that guided the nation's founders as they framed their new republic. In the 1850s, architect Thomas U. Walter addedto the original design while maintaining the neoclassical styles. His additions included the north and south extensions andthe cast iron dome.RE: welcome.Amber White 7/15/2015 2:20:32 PMI'll have to answer this with a reference to my post from yesterday. The 'old world' we freed ourselves from used adifferent architectural style, we were looking for a way to make our new world different than the European styles andinfluences we were used to.
