For critical applications such as large hospitals and healthcare complexes this means less downtime. Metal Enclosed Switchgear Metal enclosed interrupter switches are most often used in hospitals for protecting medium voltage transformers that service low voltage (480 V and 208 V) switchgear. The load interrupter switches are also useful for isolating cables between Metalclad breakers and transformers when maintenance is required. Feeding large motors with lower voltages becomes cost prohibitived because equipment sizes get very large, limited, or unavailable and multiple sets of conduit and cable are needed.
