The scenario is evident in Mrs. Mallard’s case. When her husband dies, she is overjoyed from the news, and this made her to die as well. This shows that extent to which men dominated women in the society making them to offer little attention to the women. Her happiness shows that women were opposed to the extreme domination by men which made it difficult for them to enjoy various freedoms such as making decisions concerning family matters. The women felt that men went too far by regarding the female personality as an object for the man. Furthermore, Mallard died from monstrous joy as opposed to heart disease after learning that she could enjoy freedom since women were treated unequal to men. Some of the rules that Mallard and other women greatly opposed was the inability to own property and make decisions on financial matters. Moreover, denial of education opportunities was another aspect that women were upset about especially during the difficult economic times. During her time in the 1800s, women had no rights and were restricted to house chores as housewives to raise children.
