Next cancer cells invade blood vessels when they undergo hematogenous spread. As there are blood vessels everywhere in the body. Malignant cells utilize this to reach most distant parts of the body. Finally, lymphatic spread occurs when the cancer reaches the lymph nodes and travels the other parts of the body by the lymphatic system. As this system drains many parts of the body it also provides large network to the cancer. In addition, the lymphatic nerves empty in to the blood circulations allowing the malignant cells to undergo the hematogenous spread. once at a new site the cells once again undergo proliferation and form new tumors called micro metastasis these small tumors than grow into full fledge tumors and complete the metastatic effect. Different forms of cancers have been known to have specific site for metastasis. For example, prostate cancer normally metastasized to the bones. While the colon cancer metastasized to the liver.
