• improving patient outcomes – by ensure the safety and well being of my patient in surgery I am improving patient outcomes with no other problems being created while they were in surgery. • influencing quality improvement activities – this is very important for a nurse. By setting my standards, as a nurse, high I influence others and their standards. Also, by continuing my education and learning about new ways to do procedures safely I am leading by example. 1) Being a nurse involved in the RCA and FEMA processes demonstrates leadership because a nurse is on the front line of all patient care and striving to make the process safer for the patient is what is important. I am the patient’s voice and I, as a nurse, need to lead my team and strive to make the process safer.
