Multiple Means of Engagement-I will use atime elapsed worksheetfor the students to work on differentproblems.-I will demonstrate first by showing the two times and using the number line todetermine the answer-I will also use theword problem worksheet. As a class we will answer the firstquestion by underlining the information that is needed to solve the problem. Oncewe have our two times I will allow the students to work in partners to solve theproblem.-We will regroup and share how we got the answers and answer any questions thatstudents have.Explain how you will differentiate activities for each of the following groups:English language learners (ELL)TimeNeeded20 min
BENCHMARK ASSESSMENT-With the word problem worksheet I will make sure the student is pairedwith someone that can help the read the problem and answer questions.-I will also walk around and make sure they understand the questions.Students with special needs:-These students will be able to work with other students or in a smallgroup to work on the worksheets.-Myself and the aide will be there to guide them when they need extrasupportStudents with gifted abilities:-The word problems that will be given will be a little more challengingthan the at level word problems.-Challenging these students to continue to learn is key.Early finishers (those students who finish early and may need additionalresources/support):-Those that finish early will be given a challenge problem that they canturn in for table points or a no homework pass.-They will also be encouraged to help their classmates.Multiple Means of ExpressionThe students will complete thetime elapsed and word problem sheetgiven to thembased on their understanding during the engagement section. They will be expected tocomplete these worksheets on their own. Students will also be asked to work with apartnerand discuss how they determined the elapsed time. This will allow me to seewhat students comprehended and if they need a little more guidance. The last problem onthe work sheet will be an exit ticketfor the students to go to recess.
