Coach Knight was very effective in bringing his team to victory time and time again. Although he is very hotheaded, which led to the end of his career at Indiana University, it was not very long after that he found a new coaching job at Texas Tech where he soon took that team from a losing streak to a winning streak. His tough leadership style may be extreme, but it clearly is successful to a pretty high extent. Bob Knight was not out to be likable or popular because he simply wanted to win. In basketball, the ultimate goal is to win. Being a tough and inflexible leader is expected in such a competitive sport like college basketball, which shows that it is because he is a good leader that his teams were successful. Conclusion To be a person on Coach Knight’s team seems like a very tough task to take on, as clearly indicated by his history with past players. He likes to push his players in order for them to reach their full potential, but sometimes he seems to push beyond their limits both physically and emotionally. Sometimes it is good to have someone who will push you when you need to be pushed, but other times it is better to just back off and I am not sure whether or not Knight really knows those boundaries. Although I do have a perfectionist streak in my personality, I am not very competitive in nature and I don’t like being pushed too far out of my comfort zone, so I do not think I could handle being on Coach Knight’s team. From an outside perspective, I could see how his leadership style could be effective, especially in such a competitive sport, but I am not sure if I would want to put myself under that kind of pressure.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
