I want you to take notes of the dishes you eat

I want you to take notes of the dishes you eat, tasting notes of the wines you have (including info on each wine, as well as your tasting/smell descriptions of those wines) and how those wines paired with the foods. Why did the wine pair well or not? Did the spiciness of the food bring out flavors in the wine? Did they clash? Wine or food overwhelming each other? Tasted no different? Why do you think it didn’t? Did the acidity of the wine compliment the food, or cut through the heaviness/richness making it taste better or worse? How did the wine effect the salt, sweetness, fattiness, or tartness of the food, or vice versa? Did the wine overpower the food? Did the food overpower the wine? Did the food make the wine less/ more fruity, bitter, tannic, acidic, lighter, heavier? Was the wine too sweet for the food or vice versa? Wine Folly has a good guide to pairing wine and food together with different flavors tutorial/getting-started-with-food-and-wine-pairing/ Writing that ‘the wine paired well’ is not enough, we need to know more. Write up a blog entry containing all these details and your overall impressions of the experience. Examples of great blog examples are located on the class Moodle site, ask your TA. How cool is that for a grade? Please give me some personal feedback as soon as possible on if this is a good experience and a learning opportunity for you, as this is a first time experiment. Make sure to have captions on all your photos! Like everything else, you can only submit one wine dinner blog per monthly cycle .... so again you cannot wait until the last week of class to try and slam in 3 dinner blogs, because it is obvious at that point that you are BS’ing. And you should never rush a good food/wine pairing, even if you were not BS’ing. For reference: Here are the deadlines for the 3 wine dinner entries you can do this semester WINE DINNER BLOG REPORT #1 due by MARCH 3 (or any week from NOW to March 3) WINE DINNER BLOG REPORT #2 due by MARCH 31 (or any week from March 4 to March 31) WINE DINNER BLOG REPORT #3 due by APRIL 28 (or any week from March 31 to April 28) LAST DAY TO TURN IN TASTING BLOG ENTRIES IS SUNDAY APRIL 28 Here are the restaurants I have contacted and that either have a special menu set up for you (usually with a special price) or have knowledgeable staff that are ready and willing to chat with you and help with your assignment. This list is not all-inclusive, and yes you can go to others. Here is what I got: Palisades Restaurant (special wine/food pairings on Thursdays) Lucky's, Roanoke (awesome place, great French-American fusion food, unique French wine selection by glass) Blue Apron Restaurant & Red Rooster Bar (wow. take the rents to this place to impress. Mention me and they will take care of you, staff is stellar at pairing their wines to the small plates selection) River and Rail

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
