has already received the command to do so. Now if you log off of the server that is doing the backups then you will lose that ability to do that backup of course. I am sure that there is much more that a script can do but all this is just a little from what I have picked up. Part C After all my research I have come to one clear fact. That is that when it comes to using text editors for shell scripting that is really the only way to go for an easy build of one. Scripts can be very useful to any administrator trying to run a network. I am still learning about scripting myself through all this research. Scripting is no easy process to pick up for anyone. To be rally proficient at it you will need to take some time to sit down and really learn the commands and how they operate together to form a script. A text editor is just their as a platform to use. It can’t write the script for you. At least I haven’t seen one do it. The most basic commands I have run into for scripting is the “echo” command. the beginning of every script I have seen during my research. From a windows users perspective I like scripting better on windows. Maybe it is because I am more familiar with it but I seem to have that down better than with UNIX or Linux. I would say that my assumption on scripting was correct in a general perspective. Using a text editor for scripting does involve making scripts for the startup of an OS but it also has much more capabilities to it. It can be used in a variety of ways, from moving files and users all the way to doing backup on a regular basis. I am sure that if there is something that you may need done on a regular basis you can get it done using scripting. If it is something that needs to be fixed in your system like users logging in wrong I am sure that a script can be made to fix the issue. With a little research and time you will be able to make a script for a basic or advanced need in no time. Works Cited Kernighan, B. W., & Pike, R. (1984). The UNIX Programming Environment . The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
