Human System Int e gr ation ( HS I)
Human sy stem int egrat ion, commonly referred to as HS I, is the practice of
fitting the sy stem to the user by sy stematicall y and scientifically addressing
seven, analy tical domains.
The main purpose of an HS I program is to int egrate human- related capab ili ty
planning, devel opment , acquisition, and sustainment acti v iti es across all HS I
domains. This prev ents sto ve- piping, reduces redundancies, and helps to
i dent i fy and mitigate human performance risks. Proper application of HS I also
reduces lif ec ycle costs and improves total sy stem performance.
As the technical advis or , you must cons i der all seven domains, carefu lly
balancing y our selections and fully understanding the impa cts of any trade -
offs . The domains are int erconnected , impa ct ing each other as design changes
are made, forming the basis of the trade space .
