install software to remove password defenses and access their login details. Once a hacker has control of an employee’s credentials, they can cause serious damage to the company depending on their levels of access. Additionally, criminals can auction stolen credentials from previous data intrusions on the dark web, which can jeopardize the company’s operations. However, the

To enhance the security of NACs regarding the network design, it is essential to incorporate intrusion prevention systems (IPSs) and intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPs). These measures can be used alongside VPNs to add an extra layer of protection. Both IPS and IDP work to drop unwanted and malicious traffic on networks but when paired with stronger NAC software, they can relay information about unwanted traffic to the NAC software for mitigation. Data intercepted and sent to NAC software can include the attack signature, severity, and a user’s IP address ( Peltier 75). Once the information is relayed to NAC, it outlines the ideal response to the user. Furthermore, the NAC software can opt to quarantine the account, deactivate a user’s session, or terminate their account (based on network policies set by system administrators). Consequently, implementing the mentioned strategies can fortify NAC controls insofar as LOTR’s network architecture is concerned. Moreover, these measures can lower the frequency of threats and risks that compromise the network’s operations.
