For a wealthy person, this is easier to accomplish, as witnessed in the recent political events in the country, where billionaires are either running for office or running the show. How the American political system favors the wealthy The U.S. elections are a clash of tycoons. The rest are simply onlookers. In the Republican corner, there are tycoon big shots such as Sheldon Adelson and the Koch siblings. For the democrats, there are super donors like Tom Steyer and George Soros. The rest of us will assume a role in all the elections nonetheless. The ordinary citizen will only cast a ballot. However, to an ever-increasing extent, US legislative issues, alongside the general civic life, regularly feel like an observer sport, as a developing cluster of extremely rich individuals fights it out in the political domain. The immense clout of the wealthy is not a novel issue ( Hooghe, 2013) .
