of people, which can make it difficult to find subjects. The study is being conducted while the patient is in the hospital, so that is a convenience factor for both the patient and researcher. The equipment needed to conduct the research is as follows: insulin injectable pens, questionnaires, various scale worksheets, laboratory equipment, and video equipment. The laboratory equipment to draw the HbA1c and creatinine will be utilized from the hospital where the patient is hospitalized. Everything needed for the research study can be essentially utilized from the hospital where the patient is hospitalized. The research was approved by the ethics committee. All subjects that participated in the research study were informed of the study and methods that would be used and also were informed they could withdraw at any time. All information gathered from the study was kept anonymous. Question #3: Review of the Literature. (For help with these questions, refer to chapters 7 & 18.) a) List three major topics discussed in the review of literature (ROL). a) Most diabetic patients (type 1 or 2) have poor glycemic control and education by the healthcare professional is crucial. b) Diabetic patients with high self-efficacy use effective strategies to improve self- learning and self-regulated learning

abilities. c) Multimedia based health education has improved patient outcomes with diabetes compliance. b) Are any theories or models identified in the ROL. c) Does the ROL describe current knowledge of the research problem? Briefly explain how. While the research conducted linking multimedia education and insulin therapy is limited, there are other sections of healthcare that have used multimedia and seen positive results. d) Briefly explain how the studies reviewed in the ROL are sum- marized. a) A research study conducted in Taiwan over the effectiveness of a one-time counseling session along with a pamphlet. Therefore, individuals with multimedia access content from any device can get the individual’s attention and increase compliance. This allows the individual to return to the video whenever he or she may have questions. b) According to Millett el al. (2009), One-third of diabetics HbA1c levels are above 7.5% in a study he conducted. Insulin therapy should be initiated for any individual having a hard time achieving an HbA1c less than 7%. With that being said, the provider must ensure the patient is physically capable of injecting insulin and confident about insulin therapy. Educational barriers must be identified to ensure compliance. c) Individuals with high-efficacy use effective strategies to learn and comprehend new information (Chiang et al. 2014). There is four important means of increasing self- efficacy such as enactive attainment, vicarious experience, verbal persuasion, and emotional arousal. An individual may learn easily from one or two of these means of self-efficacy. The provider must study the individual and meet their personal needs.
