22) A farmer has 40 hectares of land on which she has to grow maize and sugarcane. The land under maize is more than that under sugarcane. For maize the farmer employs one farm hand per hectare and for sugarcane he employs two farm hands per hectare. The has 30 farmhands available. The total cost of growing maize is sh.4000 per hectare and that of growing sugarcane is sh.10 000 per hectare. These costs include wages. The farmer cannot spend more than sh.100 000 altogether. He estimates that the profit on maize will be sh.3 000 per hectare and that on sugarcane is sh.10 000 per hectare. Form relevant inequalities, graph them and then find the hectarage under each crop that will give the farmer maximum profit during one planting season. (10 marks) 12
