Christa Anguelova 20013444 ENSC 290 Question 2: Identify one hidden assumption, at least 2 terms that require definitions, at least one error in logic in the paragraph. Point form Hidden Assumption - Between 3 and 7 per cent of the gains in longevity in the U .S. in the last three decades are the result of people moving to warmer states. In this excerpt from James Delingpole’s Climate Change is Good , he is assuming that longevity means something good, when that isn’t necessarily the case. Also the fact that the gain in longevity in the last three decades in the States does not directly explain how it correlates as a result of people moving to warmer states. Terms and Definitions - Cardiovascular Disease : A sickness that typically involves the blocking of blood vessels in the heart which can result in heart failure. Used in a sentence: “My grandmother suffered from a cardiovascular disease, it was very unfortunate”. - Longevity : Long period of time, long existence. Used in a sentence: By washing colours with cold water, you increase its longevity. - Nutritional Value : This is the ratio of a food to the nutrient, value represents the food in which is it digested and absorbed into the body with the amounts of nutrients. Used in a sentence: “Upon reading the nutritional value, I’ve decided to not buy the bag of chips but to buy the bad of sugar snap peas instead.” Error in Logic - Rising CO2 is increasing the nutritional value of food with consequent health benefits for humans. In this excerpt, Delingpole has an error in logic in the fact that the increasing CO2 levels do not actually increase the nutritional value of food. In fact, the rising CO2 is actually reducing the nutritional value of food, rendering it to be harmful to human health rather than receiving health benefits. Question 3: What is the common meaning for “the atmosphere is political”? What is Jensen’s more expansive of “political” and why does he think it’s important? 500 words When discussing the phrase “the atmosphere is political”, its definition is very commonly taken into consideration as the political climate of a society. This is the opinions and decisions made in a political society at a particular period of time. The atmosphere may be political when it needs to describe the state of a paradigm change in the mood or opinion rather than maintaining its state of equilibrium. Canada’s current political atmosphere is a parliamentary democracy that holds its own social and political institutions however countries like Russia carry a communist atmosphere. These political atmospheres may define a country to a certain extent.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
