Mathilde was relived because she did not notice anything different whenever she gave it back to her. Then, the misery began. Monsier Loisel had to get three jobs and Mathilde spent all of her time doing housework. This lasted ten years. This made a great change to the wife’s appearance. She had lost all of her beauty, and looked like a woman from a poor household. One day, Mathilde ran into Madame Forestier. She explained to her what really happened ten years ago. At the end of her explanation, Madame Forestier explained to Mathilde that the original necklace was a fake and was not worth anything. Analysis I believe there are many themes throughout this story.
