Information Gathering Planning Observation techniques Observation techniques is one the simplest ways of gathering information and is also one of my recommendations for gathering information concerning the Diamond Video Rentals system, the way it will work is by ‘observing’ the way the business runs daily from how they obtain client information, the process of lending out a video, payments and other various tasks involved within. Advantages -Eliminates any incorrect impressions or assumptions that have been obtained -Processes that have been overlooked during any interviews or other meetings will be viewed during the observation Disadvantages -The staff may act differently while being watched, therefore the information gathered may be incorrect -Some processes do not occur all the time, some processes will be missed. Research technique Research technique is my second recommendation; research’s main focus is gathering information from various sources to help understand the system in this case the way diamond video rentals run their business. Documents that will to conduct research will be needed, these will be reports of video rentals and some form of manual or documentation for the current system. J u l y 2 5 , 2 0 1 6

A SSESSMENT 2 - IT R EQUIREMENT S PECIFICATION Advantages - Comprehensive information of the existing system -doesn't interrupt the staff’s routine while using the system - Minimal bias information Disadvantages - Time consuming - Information may be incomplete -A clear understanding of what is required Using both the Research and Observation techniques in conjunction for collecting information concerning Diamond Video Rentals will help develop a thorough understanding of the current system by viewing how the system works from the customer’s point of view and also the staff’s point of view. They have requested also the following things be considered; -additional movies to be available for hire -Promoting what is new. -Additional Staff to help customers -Training to improve staff services 7. Information Gathering Technique Questionnaire Distribution The completed questionnaires, survey and its feedback will be reviewed and summarized in the following section. Summary of Feedback The general feedback from customers is varied, some were pleased with the current workings of the system but there were some who believed the system was merely adequate 8. list the function or service to be tested, and within each function or service, list items to be tested in sequence 9. list the procedure to test each item and the expected results of the test procedure 10. provide for documenting actual test results with comments Testing hardware and software; Once a server has been installed (here the server represents the business solution as an example) and configured you need to ensure it will operate as expected and will meet client requirements.
