Hence between 1920-1963 teacher and secondary education started expanded. However religious education method of teaching during this period was mainly evangelization whereby the learner of the catechist was a passive listener or recipient. Religion was taught in order to fight paganism, unfortunately missionaries’ confused African culture with paganism.

Religious education came along with the western culture :- i western individualism, egoism,self-cinceit and selfishness. ii Emphasis upon individual sin was a rarity in the African sense. FROM INDEPENDENCE TO DATE Teaching and learning Religious education was based on the principle that ‘if God is to be in life, God must be in education’. The proponent of Christian Education was that it must be one of the subjects in the public schools and colleges. Must be linked to the entire school work Religion to be a core curricular activity like any other subject i.e. physics, mathematics e.t.c. Religion deals with human- mutual responsibility, religious cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains
