A brief dynamic event consisting of the close approach of two or more particles, such as atoms, resulting in an abrupt change of momentum or exchange of energy.( ) Vector: A quantity, such as velocity, completely specified by a magnitude and a direction.( ) Dimple: to mark (a metal object) with a drill point as a guidefor further drilling. (dictionary.com) Percent error : The approximation error in some data is the discrepancy between an exact value and some approximation to it. An approximation error can occur because #the measurement of the data is not precise (due to the instruments), or #approximations are used instead of the real data. ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percent_error ) Plumb bob : A lead weight attached to a string. It is the tool used in determining plumb. ( ) Data: (look at attached excel sheet) Analysis: (look at attached excel sheet) Results and Conclusion: This lab was executed to help the students know and understand the law of conservation of momentum through collisions in two dimensions and analyzing them. Our final results were .82% difference between s and s 1 +s 2 and 5.65% difference between 90° and Θ 1 and Θ 2 . Possible discrepancies of our experiment would be the location of where the ball started every time, marking where the plumb bob hit the paper wrong, measuring ( s ) wrong, weighing the balls wrong, placement of our X in the center of the circle, wrong calculations and measurement of angles. Questions: Under the Report section: 1. Why? S B has to be reduced by a factor of 1/3.3 because of the ratio so since S B is th measurement of where the shallow ball dropped so in order to stay in proportion with this ratio we need to reduce it by a factor of 1/3.3.

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

Kiran Temple University Fox School of Business ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
