many bills that congress actually passed Many other republicans joined the radicals and together which gave the republicans in congress the ability override President Johnsons vetoes and putting their own plans into action Southern Democrats The removal of all of the remaining federal troops from the south as well as having a change in congress They had to commend the decision of the mission and directive to make Rutherford B. What was the main issue relating to Reconstruction that divided Republicans at the end of the Civil War? If you had been a member of Congress at the time, what type of plan for Reconstruction would you have supported and why?
The main issue between the two parties was the radical republicans. The portion of the party that wanted many changes such as civil rights for freedmen and plan to abolish slavery and to hand out harsh penalties to any ex-confederate those involved in local government the moderates were basically now the party which was Lincoln they wanted to just allow the southern states to just reenter the union to be able to just rejoin the union without any type of penalty. I would have made possible for ex confederate but there would have been penalties. Because they had violated civil and human right of Africans. They treated people like property. It actually would extend further than just African people they had also been truly unfair and vicious toward native Americans. This help regain land that was taken by the confederate.
