The heat is from the chemical reaction from when the oxygen and fuel come together. The oxygen in the air will sustain the fire. The fire will continue to grow until one of these four factors are removed. The benefits of having fire protection systems built in to any type of structure is beneficial. Regardless of the way a fire behaves a properly installed fire protection system can saves lives, as well as property. The fire protection system that gets installed will be determined by what type of structure is being built. For example, in a single family type residence I would install smoke alarms, an automatic sprinkler system. I would also

However, for a high-rise structureI would enforce to have, automatic fire alarms, to alert the fire department and building personnel. I would strongly recommend to have sprinkler systems in place to help mitigate the fire. I would insist to have manual systems in larger structures too. This would allow alarms to be activated before the fire got to the point of activating an automatic alarm. I would also recommend to have fire extinguishers and hoses in different areas on each floor.
