Non emergency provides transportation services to individuals that on who do not have a way to their covered medical appointments. or any place that provides covered health care services (Medical Transportation Program). Texas Bill HB25 was a bill signed by the Governor on June 10,2019 and to be effective on September 1, 2019. This bill would require Health and Human Services Commission(HHSC) to provide a pilot program to provide Medicaid medical transportation program services to pregnant women and new mothers and the children without any additional cost. HHSC currently provide and reimburse recipients of Medicaid during a pregnancy and is using the medical transportation program for travel to and from a covered pregnancy service, including postpartum care ( Gonzalez of El Paso, 2019). I think this is a very important bill that the Governor has signed. There are lot of people that do not now that this transportation service exist not only for pregnant moms but anyone on Medicaid, special need children and cancer patients (Medical Transportation Program). I work in the Neonatal ICU and majority of our clients are teenage mothers, drug addict mothers or low income mothers. Premature babies can spend months in the hospital and coming back and forth to visit can be costly and draining on mothers especially if they have other children or no means of transportation. We have a social worker who goes over and beyond to make sure parents have every resource available to them for visitation. This is especially beneficial to parents with multiple children school aged kids because they can visit while they are in school. Gonzalez of El Paso (2019) HB 25 Texas Legislator Online. 15 U.S.C. §2601 et seq. (1976), The Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976. In 1975 John R. Quarles, Deputy Administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency, testified before the House Interstate and Foreign Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Finance to propose legislation to prevent dangerous chemicals from harming the environment. Mr. Quarles spoke about vinyl chloride, which is used when making plastic. Vinyl chloride was causing cancer of the liver and at this point had caused 15 deaths to American workers.
