spelling out and protecting themselves against the evil eye. They claim that the eye is driven out through a special prayer said by an old relative of the opposite sex to the victim. Grandparents were the most appropriate people to heal patients of the evil eye. Crook e xplains that healing prayers were offered under exceptional circumstances because the more they treat a sick person, the more they lose their healing power (339) . There are also several ways of testing for an evil eye one being the use of oil with a vessel of water. The presence of an evil spell is tested by plummeting a drop of olive oil in a glass of holy water and observe its behavior. If the drop floats, then it means that there is no presence of evil eye, but if it falls then, they conclude that evil is cast on the sick person. In conclusion, people from different parts of the world have their perception of evil and witchcraft. All cultures have a similar definition of the evil eye, but its effects on human life and how it is controlled varies. It is also a myth that is passed over from one generation to the other.
