Also just like I want to feel connected to my work and my organization, that is what Iwant from my staff and I will strive to make this happen for them. The thing that will forever play over in my mind is without people an organization cannot be successful.Inever really thought of this and I think I was surprised in a good way that this truth has been identifiedto the point that organizations are shifting in order to meet the needs of the employees of theirorganization.Where I work, they certainly are encouraging managers to hold 1:1 meetings with staffthroughout the year, holding regular staff meetings in which staff are recognized by the manager or theirpeer for doing a good job not matter how big or small. My organization has even equipped managerswith what they call a “manager’s toolkit” which consists of gift cards and thank you notes that managersare able to give to any of their staff they want to recognize. We also have an organization employee ofthe month as well as shout-outs that are posted on our organization website recognizing employees forhelpful deeds.Things learned in this course helped me see that my organization does recognize thatemployees are important and are moving in the right direction in their attempt to acknowledge them.Ithink they are also thinking about effective talent management in order to decrease turnover as much aspossible in an attempt to keep top performers in the healthcare industry.
