Most people who take CLEP exams want to earn creditforcollegecourses.Otherstaketheexamstoqualifyforjobpromotions,professionalcertifcation,orlicensing.Whatever the reason, it’s vital for most candidates to be well prepared so they can advance as fast as possibletowardtheireducationalorcareergoals.Those with limited knowledge in the subjects coveredby the exams they’re considering are advised to enrollinthecollegecoursesinwhichthatmaterialistaught.Although there’s no way to predict whether you’ll passaparticularCLEPexam,youmay fndthefollowingguidelineshelpful.1. Test Descriptions For each exam, read the test description and theoutlinesetforthinthe“KnowledgeandSkillsRequired”sectionprovidedinthisguide.Areyoufamiliarwithmostofthetopicsand terminologyintheoutline?2. Textbooks Review the textbook and other resource materials usedforthecorrespondingcourseatyourcollege.Youcanfndalistofsuggestedtextbooksandfree online resources for each exam at clep. collegeboard.org/exams.Areyoufamiliarwithmost of the topics and terminology used in collegetextbooksonthissubject?3. Sample Questions The sample questions included in this guide arerepresentativeofthecontentanddifcultyoftheexamquestions.NoneofthesamplequestionsappearonanyCLEPexamination.Usethemtogetanunderstandingofthecontentanddifcultylevelofthequestionsonanactualexam.Knowingthecorrect answers to all of the sample questions is notasubstituteforcollege-levelstudyora guaranteeofsatisfactoryperformanceontheexam.Following the instructions and suggestions inChapterV,answerasmanyofthesamplequestionsfortheexamasyoucan.Checkyouranswersagainsttheanswerkeyattheendofeachsection.Were you able to answer almost all of thequestionscorrectly?Youmaynotneedtostudythesubjectextensively.Didyouhavedifcultyansweringthequestions?You’llprobablybeneftfrommoreextensivestudyofthesubject.4. Previous Study Have you taken noncredit courses in this subjectoferedbyanadultschoolora privateschool,through correspondence, or in connection with yourjob?Didyoudo exceptionallywellinthissubjectin high school, or did you take an honors coursein this subject?5.
