After reading Marcellinus’ account of the battle, what would you say were the major reasons for Rome’s defeat at Adrianople? The barbarians just seem to have better arms and strangely and knew how to out play the Romans. The Romans at one point were surrounded and just think the Romans could not outsmart the barbarians. The barbarians knew how they fought and knew their weakness.
