decrease in ‘we’ feelings and an increase in ‘I’ feelings among the younger generations
(Chokkanathan, 2017). This strain can lead to feelings of loneliness and isolation for the
elderly patient (Chokkanathan, 2017). Assisting the caregiver with caring for their loved
one will remove the burden on providing complete care (Holroyd-Leduc et al, 2012).
From my experience, involving the community with assisting as rounds, providing

meals, or just assisting with activities of daily living will give the caregiver a break and
open themselves to new relationships.
