Based on the foregoing statements, I consider myself as globally incompetent and my perspective in life and career lies only in domestic undertakings. All my hardship in teaching focuses on producing graduates who are globally competent – ready to face the economic battle of the world ahead. However, these efforts are baseless since I was not able to provide my students both in Senior High School and College with enough global knowledge which helps them understand the complexity of the world. I am guilty of failing to travel elsewhere, abroad, or even places around my country. For a record, the farthest place I traveled is only Butuan City who just a few hours from my residence in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental. As mentioned by Dr. Percy Richardson, a global teacher is a traveler wherein experiences can be shared first-hand to the students who have not been traveled abroad, and help them understand lessons clearly through teacher's actual foreign experiences. Although there are many social media platforms or web applications that can help you experienced places and research about foreign cultures, norms, and values via the internet, these are not authentic, realistic compare to your actual foreign visit. If given enough financial resources and time, I will travel around the Philippines and other foreign countries like China, Italy, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and the United States to explore, discover and experience their vast cultures and traditions which could help future education endeavors. Traveling in different places aids learning. This is the reason why our professor, Dr. Teresita T. Tumapon of Liceo de Cagayan University can elaborate her discussion in Intercultural Leadership and Global Perspective because of her adequate foreign experiences, particularly in Germany. For all class members who have not been to Germany can picture out vividly the cultural perspectives of the German leaders against Philippine leaders and other foreign leaders or people through her observation or experiences in the country where she studied Literature. For classroom learning materials, I have learned that local resources such as textbooks are good but insufficient to provide global information for local students. References must be varied, diverse and introduce both local and foreign context. In this way, students can compare and contrast different perspectives across borders and help students think analytically, critically and creatively. This makes learning fun, holistic and ensures that global knowledge is being channeled appropriately. Global Filipino teachers are leaders also, in the classroom. We sometimes act like transactional leaders whose main job is to keep our classroom afloat. We use disciplinary actions and an array of incentives to motivate students to perform at their best in academics. We also oftentimes behave like transformational leaders whose function focuses on team- building, motivation, and collaboration with students at different learning readiness to accomplish change for the better. We used different leadership styles to suit to learning styles of the students. Will you take the risk to think out of the Box for your learners to do the same?
