Literary Element Applies to This Character Act, Scene and lines Analysis of the Element 6. Figurative Language ( Simile ) Sly Induction Scene 1 Lord: “O monstrous beast! How like a swine he lies! In this situation, Sly is laying down, drunk and sloppy. The simile in the quote is used to compare Sly to a pig. 7.Characterization Katharina Act 2 Scene 1 Katharina: “If I be waspish, best beware my sting.” As mentioned before, Katharina uses an analogy to describe her own personality as aggressive to Petruchio and the audience, which is also form of characterization. 8. Figurative Language ( Metaphor ) Katharina Act 1 Scene 2 Gremio: “but will you woo this wildcat?” In this quote Gremio is talking to Petruchio, asking him whether or not he will be able to woo Katharina. Gremio uses a metaphor when referring to Katharina as a wildcat, given her feisty personality.
