This usually happens to one or two students during the midterm or final since they are a hundred questions long and students are in a hurry or because their connection or computer takes a long time to save the answers. However, since students may encounter an unforeseen family or personal emergency, a power outage, or a computer malfunction, ONE (1) of the 12 quizzes will be allowed to be reset or submitted late one week after the due date. If your computer or electricity fails during the quiz or you have a personal emergency you will get ONE chance to have ONE quiz reset or submitted late one week (7 days) after the due date. This means that you need a reliable computer and internet connection for this class. So your best option is not to wait until 30 minutes before the quiz is due and then discover your computer or internet is not working. Instead, give yourself time to take the quiz on an alternative computer if a technical problem arises. For instance, public libraries and CCAC campuses have computers for student use.
5 Although, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the instructor as soon as possible or no later than one week (7 days) after the quiz was due to have it reset . The reset option is not a second chance to re-take a quiz after getting a low score; instead, it is for emergencies that prevent you from taking or completing the quiz . The “reset” does NOT mean that you will have the same exact quiz and questions in the reset quiz, though it is possible some of the questions could be the same. If your emergency does not allow you to take the quiz by the scheduled deadline, the quiz will be open for you to take for one week after the due date and time. Students DO NOT need to contact the professor if they use the emergency late quiz submission policy. Just take it; the quiz will be available for a week after the due date and time. You do not have to email the professor if you are using this late quiz option; however you do have to contact me if there is a computer problem while taking a quiz since I will have to manually go in and clear your attempt and reset it for you. An emergency reset of a quiz must be completed within one week after the professor manually resets the quiz for the student. Only in extreme emergency situations, with proper verification and documentation submitted to the professor, will the professor consider allowing the one late/reset quiz submission after the one week deadline. There will be no weekly quizzes for week 7 and week 15. Twenty questions from the chapters for these weeks will be included in the midterm and final exam respectively. To help maintain academic honesty, students will not be able to see the answers to the quizzes until after the deadline date and time has passed . However, you will be able to see your points for the quiz (the number correct) in the “MyGrade” section of blackboard. If you exceed the time limit your will have an “!” as your points until I go in and manually adjust your grade. To view any questions you missed on the quizzes, just double click on the point total in “MyGrade.”
