Residents can purchase a single prescription voucher for approximately $10, a three-month voucher for $37.50 which is best if a resident requires three or more prescriptions a month, or a yearly voucher for approximately $133 if a resident requires twelve or more prescriptions a year (NHS Choices, 2015). Additionally, if the resident is unemployed, they offerservices that will cover their prescription costs. This is far less expensive than US coverage of medications which vary in prices from $0 to thousands of dollars based on the residents’ insurance coverage (Cherry & Jacob, 2014). Those with Medicare, have the option to purchase supplemental insurance to cover the increasing costs of prescriptions if they are able to afford it.
