Consider why persons with disabilities are considered a vulnerable population. Share with others experiences you may have had with individuals born with a physical ailment, children or adults with cognitive delays, people who may have suffered traumatic brain injury (i.e., possibly due to an accident, effects from war, etc.). What have you learned about challenges that impact their lives, that you may not have considered without this personal experience? Research programs that exist (America, or globally) to better integrate persons with disabilities into society and mitigate the disparities they face. Develop your own list of opportunities/programs/activities that can better support people with various disabilities. Consider the micro and macro approach to your thinking, and develop at least one idea per level. Why do you feel these may be viable solutions? What may be some of the barriers that these ideas face? Hello Classmates and Professor Castile, This DQ is a personal experience for myself. I have been an active person all my life and in 2011 I had been at my brothers football game and passed out. First I thought it was because I was yelling an screaming and it was hot outside but it wasn’t. I got rushed to the hospital and that’s were my life changed forever. I ended up with a brain tumor. This brain tumor has given me the run for my physical abilities. I cant see without my glasses anymore I have to be careful on what I do and how I do them. I have gained A LOT of weight which I’m really mad about because I cant go work out to loose it. My biggest problem is that I am not the same and have to go to a lot of Dr appointments instead of trips. Micro level would be that I sit at home more then going our with friends. I have really learned a lot bout my body and respect it more now then ever. Topic 4 DQ2 Elderabuse in America, and around the world, is a social problem that may not be recognized. Hello Classmates and Professor Castile, This problem is absolutely disgusting. Elderabuse happens more then we can think in our country or even around the world. There is a saying “respect your elders” I believe this goes in more then one way. Its not just to respect them as care for them and hold them dear but respect the words of wisdom that they share with you. Elders have a lot of knowledge and they have been thru a lot in their days. Some elders have been around since WW2 and that’s incredinle. Elders should be respected and cared for just like you would care for yourself. Elder abuse needs to be
