or other work that’s being done. To answer that isn’t meeting the requirement, business objectives, it could be seen in two ways. One, so I could have a business objective of getting the right data to me and the other business objective is delivering the right work. I think the stream that BMO supports is actually both the streams but focuses more on getting the input right. So that the output can be delivered in the right way. So yes it definitely helps.
Yes, absolutely. Eventually all the inputs that I am supporting that goes into PMO. They are going to become an output for someone, either for me in the future again to take, to go back and reflect upon it or for someone else. So definitely there’s a strong correlation between all these tasks plus with setting a PMO, there’s more structure to the way I work now and the time that I spent. There’s less time leakage and effort leakage with the implementation of. More efficient and time. Yes, it is more efficient.
It’s a key, how do you not keep your customers engaged, I think that role is moving to over communication now. I was on a project, as a matter of fact, presently on one of my projects where we were planning to set up regular meetings with the customer and we were still at the procurement stage so that we can have bi-weekly meetings in the procurement stage and once the procurement is over, once the material isn’t there, when the actual works happened, we’ll move onto a weekly meeting. But then there was thought that why not over communicate, why not meet weekly. So the involvement from the customer is very important because that gives them that confidence that yes you are working on it and you’re on top of things. I would say that customer involvement is very important and over communicating is the key.
Yeah, so, as I mentioned one of the answers before, we implemented cloud technology, software that we’ll be using and that is helping us communicate much better and much faster within the team, across the teams, and right up to the PMO where everything is available in a timely fashion. There are still some hiccups around the input streams being timely because, your output is as good as the input that you put in there. If there’s a lag in not putting the input at the right time, output will suffer. Yes, from a communication standpoint, we now rely less on emails and more on the software that we’ve implemented and it helps. To coordinate the PMO?Yeah.
All the project managers that we have in our PMO are trained on the skill of the trade. The new project, they know, they’ve been doing it for awhile. But it’s just, when it comes to setting up the PMO and setting up some structure work where we implemented a cloud in our software, that is where we had [unintelligible] some time in training so we worked with a third party training provider who helped us upskill all our resources to get trained on the application which helps us manage our PMO and the cloud. That is the level of effort, time and money that we have spent in getting to that level.
