humanity. So, in return we have more time to spend building bigger, faster, and prettier but one question we seemed to forget is “what is this doing to our environment?”. Architecture is a classic case of “biting the hand that feeds you”. Nature provides almost every resource needed for a building including the foundation; in return architecture gives nothing back to the land and instead leaves waste that will affect the environment for years to come. When a building or facility loses its function, it does not lose its long-term influence on the environment around it. Though a building may only have been standing for 10 years it took years of exploitation of natural, capital, and human resources to build the building in the first place. After the building is no longer needed it will again require exploitation of resources; all of which can be harmful to environment. Unless these structures are able to be converted into new facilities or demolished for resources, they will be considered a loss of resources, energy, and time. Nature on the other hand reuses everything; it is a constant cycle of birth and decomposition with all recourses used and renewed. Nature does a very good job at setting an example for how humans should live. Birds are a good example of how we have taken a concept like flight from nature.
