creating their own small ponds. These small ponds are called alligators holes . The alligator holes are deep enough to hold water all year long. As other areas in the wetlands begin to dry up during the dry season, an alligator hole becomes a welcome refuge for a wide variety of aquatic plants and animals. In fact, an entire food web develops in an alligator hole during the dry seasons. A food web is a diagram that shows the feeding relationships between organisms in an ecosystem. These organisms can be classified by the way they obtain energy. Producers are organisms, such as photosynthetic plants, that use the sun’s energy to make organic matter from inorganic matter. Consumers are organisms that consume other organisms to obtain nutrients. Consumers can be placed into two groups, herbivores and carnivores. Herbivores eat plants and include rabbits, deer, and certain insects. Carnivores eat other organisms and include frogs, snakes, and alligators. Decomposers are organisms, such as fungi and bacteria, that break down the organic compounds of dead organisms into simple, inorganic molecules that other living organisms can use.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
