emergencies or other extreme situations verified in writing by a third party. For example, in case of medical emergency, the student must provide a signed physician’s note to the instructor before a make- up exam can be scheduled. Reasonable accommodation will be provided to any student who is registered with the Office of Students with Disabilities and requests needed accommodation. Adaptive Learning Assignments and Pre-Class Knowledge Evaluation assignments will be assigned on a regular basis using ALEKS, and these scores will be incorporated into your final course grade. You will need to be vigilant in the completion of these assignments—the computer may be set to give you a limited number of tries to obtain the correct answer. The deadline to complete each on-line assignment will be posted for each assignment on the ALEKS website. The role of ALEKS is to review and refresh your knowledge and skills up to that expected for any general chemistry course. It will check your skills with an initial test and plan your path to reach the required skill level. ALEKS will also be used to test you on how well you have prepared for the upcoming lecture. It will test foundation skills so that the instructor can help you with more complex, exam level problems. It will be of great help your grade to practice the problems at the end of each chapter as they will be models for lab quiz problems and exam problems. Lab quizzes will be set weekly at one of your weekly laboratory meetings. Laboratory instructors will determine the specific content of the quizzes, but they will contain at least one problem based on the suggested problems in the syllabus (see page 6) and questions about the upcoming and previous laboratory exercises. Quizzes will be graded by your laboratory instructor and returned to you on a schedule set by your instructor.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
