Bryan Sones Thread: Burt Question #5 Post: Burt Question #5 Author: Posted Date: December 7, 2015 4:24 PM Status: Published What are the measurement problems that occur when attempting to measure productivity? What steps do you recommend taking to address these? There are difficulties in measuring the outputs, inputs, and manhours. Output – The difficulties in measuring lies when some units are homogenous and some are not. When that occurs you cannot get an accurate reading. If it is homogenous, then you measure by volume. If it is not, then you measure in terms of value. Input – Measuring the Input is mostly difficult due to the records needed for Jerimiah Burt

Also, the number of hours worked are never accurate. Manhours – This is difficult simply because the wages paid include idle time so it will not have an accurate reading. Unless, they record all of the employees idle times. Another point that can be made is that outputs very from one employee to the next. Some employees can turnout more product then others within a man hour. Using the average output per man hour really isn’t an accurate number per shift. One other output that would be hard to measure is the service industry. For example building a house would be a service output but the design and quality is very hard to measure in time and man hours. Nicholas Cluff Thread: Newill Question 28 Post: Newill Question 28 Author: Posted Date: December 7, 2015 8:37 PM Status: Published From your personal experiences, discuss how the various business disciplines(operations, marketing, finance, ect.) work together to achieve a company's goals. Can you provide a "real world" example of the results when these functions do not work in concert? From my experience working at Roseman University of Health Sciences, marketing, finance, financial aid, admissions and the college head's must work together to recruit students to a new cohort. Once the college head produces a schedule of classes and dates, marketing must advertise to get the work out. The must have the needed details to know what area to advertise in, for Linda Newill

Once interest in the program is shown, admissions must interview and make offers.
